Chris is a single mom of two beautiful little girls. Early 2004, Chris and her husband decided to get a divorce. They proceeded in selling their home and going their separate ways. In October '04 Chris closed on a home of her own that she planned to live in with her kids. The home isn't a total fixer upper but it has its problems and she addressed them as they came up. Quickly though, the todo list got bigger and bigger. Still the house was manageable as long as the purse strings didn't get any tighter.

In late April, Chris had noticed some symptoms similar to anemia, paired with an infected piercing, she made a trip to her doctors. The doctor took care of the piercing and sent her to do some blood work. Chris put off the blood work for about a week since the symptoms went away. On a Friday she had the blood taken and on Saturday she was told to come into the doctors office ASAP.

April 30th '05 Chris was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). Needless to say, this was a huge shock to her and her family. She immediately began treatment that included having a hickman "installed" (totally gross but useful tube stuck in the chest) and chemo. She spent the next month in the hospital dealing with treatment and adjusting to the shock leukemia puts on someone.

During her treatment she kept a blog to keep all who cared informed of her progress. She has since finished with Chemo and re-entered the world of "normal" again. Things are very different for her and she has continued to keep her blog going, talking about all the trials and tribs of life after cancer...
