Getting Blood

I had to go in to New Haven yesterday to get blood. This is probably one of my least favorite things to do. Not because it hurts or is uncomfortable in any way.. just because its gross.. and it takes forever. I arrived around 9am and was placed in a room with a bed for me. This was a good thing because since all my blood numbers were low, i was quite tired and promptly crawled under the covers until a nurse came in. I had to wait a short time while my platelets were in transit. The bag of orange yuk arrived and they hooked it up to my hickman. I knew from previous transfusions that platelets took about 2 hours to drip in which would be perfect timing for the hospital to prepare my red blood bags and get them to the infirmary i was in. So I slept.. well i slept as much as I could with the nurse taking my vitals every 15 minutes. The day pretty much progressed much like this all the way thru. By 6pm I had gotten my bag of platelets and two bags of red blood and was on my way back home.
